How Our Mental Health Treatment in Tampa Works

At Gulf Coast Recovery Center, we pride ourselves on offering a practical approach to mental health treatment. Recognizing that each individual’s journey towards mental wellness is unique, our programs are designed to provide structure and support while accommodating multiple levels of need and stability. Our program options include:

Partial Hospitalization Programming (PHP)

Partial Hospitalization Programming represents our most intensive and popular level of care. PHP is ideal for clients who need comprehensive support but do not require 24-hour supervision. In PHP clients participate in daily therapeutic activities and sessions, typically for several hours each day, six days per week and return home or to a structured mental health housing program when the day is over. This setting is beneficial for those transitioning from an inpatient facility or for those who need a structured environment to manage severe symptoms.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Intensive Outpatient Programming is a step down from PHP and is suited for individuals who require more support than traditional outpatient therapy but less than partial hospitalization. Clients in IOP typically engage in therapy for a few hours per day, several days a week. We also offer evening IOP for those who need to continue maintaining daily obligations.

Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient treatment is the least intensive level of care we offer. It is designed for individuals who are stable and have a good level of functioning in their day-to-day lives but still require ongoing support and therapy. Clients in outpatient treatment typically meet with a therapist for one-on-one sessions once or twice a week. This treatment allows individuals to maintain their regular work, school, or family commitments while continuing their journey towards mental wellness.

What To Expect at Our Mental Health Facilities in Tampa

Whether through therapy, counseling, medication, or a combination of these approaches, the treatment of Gulf Coast Recovery Center has been a lifeline for many people living with a mental health disorder. Here’s what to expect from treatment at Gulf Coast Recovery Center:

  • Assessment. Treatment begins with an initial clinical assessment, where a mental health professional gathers information about your symptoms, mental health history, and goals. This assessment goes toward the creation of a personalized treatment plan.
  • Therapeutic Techniques. Psychotherapy like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical-Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a common therapeutic approach, involving discussion and coping strategies to address specific concerns or symptoms.
  • Medication management. In some cases, psychiatrists will prescribe medication to manage a client’s particular mental health symptoms.
  • Privacy and confidentiality. At Gulf Coast Recovery Center, our compassionate team of professionals adhere to strict confidentiality standards, ensuring that every client’s personal information remains private.

In addition, due to the correlation between mental health and substance use disorders, some clients need dual diagnosis treatment for both disorders.

Does Insurance Cover Mental Health Treatment?

As required by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, behavioral and mental health treatments are considered essential benefits. Therefore, all health plans must cover these treatments. Covered mental health benefits include counseling and therapy as well as inpatient mental health and addiction treatment.

Still, one would be wise to carefully review their insurance policy and contact their insurance provider to understand the specifics of their coverage for mental health treatment. Gulf Coast Recovery Center can also assist prospective clients with insurance-related matters.
